SERVPRO of Campbell, Claiborne, Scott, and Union Counties Fires Fire Damage!

Smoke and soot are invasive, working their ways into anything porous, like carpet, curtains, and clothing, and resting upon anything non-porous like metal, porcelain, and linoleum. Smoke is often greasy, and both residues are obnoxiously odorous. At SERVPRO® of Campbell, Claiborne, Scott, and Union Counties, we have extensive training and experience as well as the latest equipment and proprietary solutions to remove fire residue and odor. Call any time. We’re Here to Help.®

Residential fires are still frighteningly common in the United States. While we’re glad the numbers of injuries and deaths have been decreasing, they’re still higher than in similarly developed countries because we have so many more preventable fires. Nonetheless, we’ll keep celebrating the downward trend. In the meantime, we pass on this warning from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA): Don’t try to multitask in the kitchen! About 50% of residential fires start in the kitchen, almost always because the cook is trying to pay attention to too many things at the same time.

In addition to the downward trend in deaths and injuries, another positive development is that the flames in kitchen fires tend to be confined to the kitchen itself. That means damage from the blaze itself is confined to the kitchen, or even to the oven or a cooking vessel. Other types of damage, however, do spread throughout the rest of the house, such as smoke and soot, and often water – either from burst pipes or from the firefighters’ work to suppress the flames. Water damage often means microbial growth such as mold and burst pipes may include sewage. Any major damage may include parts of the house being open to the elements, which means other biohazards (vegetation or animal waste, dirt, debris, etc.) end up involved in the damage as well.

No matter the size of the disaster, it’s likely to be more than you can handle alone. Don’t worry; you don’t have to. At SERVPRO of Campbell, Claiborne, Scott, and Union Counties, our technicians are trained to handle all the consequences of fires, both large and small.
